Enhancing your self-care routine with essential oils
What is self-care?
Self-care is defined as the practice of acting out to improve one’s health.
Proper self-care routine helps to reduce stress levels, reduce anxiety and to improve mood. Whatever you perform to have a good mental health qualifies to be a proper self- care routine. As a mum, I certainly need a time-out at times when I’m constantly looking after my toddler and juggling with work and chores. If you can binge watch Netflix a few times each week, you certainly have time to spare. But the ideas I’m going to share is for the busy crowd who can feel pampered in less than twenty minutes.
Starting a self-care routine with essential oils not only improves mood but also contributes to your health. Here are a few ideas for your self-care routine:
Diffuse essential oils around your home
Experiencing pure essential oils aromatically is one of the best ways to enjoy your oils. Diffusing oils in an essential oil diffuser is a great way to do this.
Diffusing helps to elevate your mood, helps to focus, kills airborne pathogens and changes the aroma of your environment. Here are some diffuser blends you can try that will help you based on your mood.
ENERGIZE
This citrus blend wakes you up and helps you focus. Breathe in while diffusing and you’ll truly feel uplifted.
2 drops orange
2 drops grapefruit
2 drops lemon

Try this combination to help you relax and get rid of tension.

Calming Oil
Anytime you’re looking for relief from headaches, stress, or just to get a better night’s sleep, Lavender Essential Oil should be a part of your self-care regime.
Lavender essential oil is sedative, anti-anxiety, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-carcinogenic, immune boosting and antiviral. It's perhaps the most versatile, gentle and effective essential oil out there. A few drops of this amazing essential oil into your diffuser and you are good to go to sleep!
Make essential oils infused tea
How to make tea with essential oils:
Add 1 drop of ginger or lemon essential oils to your choice of tea. I recommend green tea, black tea or ginger tea. This really enhances the flavour. Also, if you have a sore throat 1 drop of ginger in your tea and it feels so soothing. Remember to use essential oils that are therapeutic grade & USDA certified that are safe for consumption.
Add essential oils to your face cream
Adding 1 drop of essential oil to your face cream when applying, can have many benefits. As with diffusing, you can add a specific oil depending on your mood. Here are the essential oils I recommend that are great for the skin:
Frankincense feels so good when you apply it to your skin in your moisturizer. It has a sweet, honey-like, and woody fragrance. It feels fresh and uplifts the mood. They say it can also reduce the appearance of uneven skin tones, so thumbs up for that!
Carrot Seed is a great oil to add to your moisturizer to revitalize and maintain the appearance of healthy- looking skin.
Lavender is another amazing oil to moisturize your skin. Add a drop of lavender to your night cream to get relaxed and ready for bed. It’s extremely calming.
